AIR CASUALTY

PILOT FROM NEW PLYMOUTH

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, August 28. Notification of the death of Pilot Officer Leonard William Bennett, aged 2\ as a result of air operations in England on August 26 was received by his mother, Mrs. E. Bennett, Bulkley Terrace, New Plymouth, this morning. Educated at the New Plymouth Boys' High School, Pilot Officer Bennett was a good all-round athlete, and particularly prominent in running, swimming, and football. He was employed in clerical work till he left shortly before Christmas, 1938, to join the R.A.P. in England. He is the eldest of three brothers. One is serving in the Navy and the other in the Territorial Forces.
