PARTY OF AMERICANS
DUE BY AMERICAN CLIPPER
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 28,
With a party of distinguished Americans on board, the Pan-American Airways' American Clipper will arrive from Noumea about 2.30 tomorrow afternoon. The clipper completed the third -stage ■of • her journey from San Francisco today, leaving Canton Island at 5,38 -a.m. (New- Zealand time) and reaching Noumea at 5.30 p.m. (New Zealand time). Because of an alteration in arrangements, the fourteen American passengers will now all come to New Zealand. Originally seven were to travel from Noumea to Sydney by yacht. On arrival the Americans will be welcomed by an official party, headed by the Minister of Lands (the Hon. F. Langstone), who is expected from Wellington by train in the morning. A State dinner, at which Mr. Langstone will preside, will be held at the Grand Hotel in the evening. The guests will include Auckland members of the Legislature and ? prominent citizens. Plans which cannot be confirmed till tomorrow have been made to show the American party some of the scenic attractions of the North Island, but the nature of the programme finally agreed upon depends largely upon the duration of the visitors' stay. It is hoped to take the party, as guests of the Government, to Rotorua and the Waitomo Caves.
