MINISTER TO U.S.A.
QUESTION REVIVED
DOMINION'S INTERESTS
. The question of the appointment of a representative of the New Zealand Government in Washington was again raised in the House of Representatives yesterday in an urgent question asked by Mr. J. A. Lee (Democratic Labour, Grey Lynn) on behalf of the member for Napier (the Hon. W. E. Barnard).
The Prime Minister was asked whether the Government, which was considering the appointment of a Minister or representative for the Dominion at Washington, D.C., had come to a decision in the matter.
■ Mr. Lee said that the opinion had been expressed in Australia and elsewhere that, the Commonwealth's appointment of Mr. R. G. Casey as Minister Plenipotentiary, in the existing situation, had been of great benefit to Australia.
The Prime Minister said that the question was receiving the close and careful attention of the Government. "The matter is a very important one and does deserve and is receiving a very earnest and very close attention." added Mr. Fraser.
