PUBLIC SERVICE
TEMPORARY HANDS
SUPERANNUATION PAYMENTS
Notice of question was given in the House of Representatives yesterday by Mr. J. A. Lee (Democratic Labour, Grey Lynn),, on behalf of the member for Napier (the Hon. W. E. Barnard), as to whether the Prime Minister would give temporary civil servants who are paying into the superannuation fund,' and who now find they are unable to afford the payments, the opportunity to withdraw from the fund, in view of the fact that they have no prospect of permanent appointment.
Mr. Lee said that the case in point was that of a temporary clerk with a wife and <two children dependent upon him, who found that payment of -6 per cent, superannuation, plus 2s in the- £ for social security and national security, left him insufficient to provide for himself, his wife, and family.
