SUBVERSION IN U.S.

SOME KEY OFFICIALS

MOVE FOR DISMISSALS

(Received August 28, 1.40 p.m.)

NEW YORK, August 27.

The chairman of the committee which is investigating un-American activities, Mr. Martin Dies, announced that he intends to ask President Roosevelt to help dismiss certain Government officials in key positions who, it is alleged, have supported subversive organisations.

Mr. Dies said that he is sending to President Roosevelt the names of officials who are contributing money to supported groups which are under direct or indirect control of foreign Governments. He said that he had evidence that a few Congressmen and Senators had used material supplied by Nazis.

Mr. Dies said that he intended to introduce in the House of Representatives a Bill outlawing subversive oj* ganisations.
