MILITARY CAMPS COMPARED
!sr%ssfi rf,3 Fletcher, of Auckland, who has re cently returned from a months visit to the Commonwealth. "The grounds and roads surrounding the Australian camps are not sealed, but are merely covered with gravel," said Mr Fletcher "With the prevailing dry weather, the dust nuisance can readily be imagined. In addition the wades of the huts are not lined. In the summer the bare covering of corrugated iron between the men and the hot sun will most certainly prove to be insufficient There are no recreation rooms with the exception of one cinema house Which has seating accommodation for only a fraction of the men in the camp." Mr. Fletcher added that contracts were only now being let for the construction of .camps. In his opinion, New Zealand, at the moment, had accommodation in military camps for almost as many men as her larger sister.
