W.D.F.U. ACTION
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
WANGANUI, August 26. At the annual meeting of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union held in Wellington in July, the president, Mrs. Noel Adams, of Cleveland, asked the members whether - they thought it possible to raise funds for the gift of an aeroplane to Britain. The idea was most enthusiastically received, and great disappointment was felt when the idea was held "not feasible" by Government officials. Now that] the ban has been lifted regarding gift j planes, the W.D. headquarters has lost no time in notifying its branches and asking for definite statements regard- ! ing the amount that each branch, if it is in favour of the idea, is prepared to subscribe. At a hastily-summoned committee meeting of the Wanganui branch this afternoon, the proposal was unanimously supported, and £25 was voted towards the fund—in the meantime. All over New Zealand this week, there will be similar meetings. Mrs. Noel Adams has opened the fund j i with a contribution of £100.
