DEATH OF PANTHEON
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.)SYDNEY, July 30. The imported stallion Pantheon died yesterday at the stud. Pantheon proved himself one of the best racehorses in Australia, and in his day he won several weight-for-age events, besides acting as runner-up in a Melbourne Cup. At the stud he gained fame through the immediate success of his progeny, among whom were Peter Pan (Melbourne Cup, twice), Avenger (A.J. Derby), Feminist (A.J.C. Metropolitan), Maikai, Pantler, Olympian, Panto, and numerous others. He was a brown horse by Tracery from the Your Majesty mare Scotch Rose, a daughter of Rose of Ayrshire, by Ayrshire, the line tracing back to Sterling.
