SALVAGED GUNS
A SUNKEN DESTROYER
The guns of H.M.S. Gipsy, the destroyer which became the thirteenth victim of the magnetic mines, may yet avenge her 40 dead. Her four 4.7----inch guns and other smaller weapons were dismantled and brought ashore for use in other ships.
The Gipsy was sunk six months ago. .Her back was broken, and less than half of her remained above water shortly after the explosion. Now hall the destroyer is beached inshore.
At the moment there does not seem any possibility of the destroyer becoming a second Zubian —greatest salvage feat of the last war. From the wrecks of the destroyers Zulu and Nubian damaged parts were removed and the two half-destroyers were joined together. The result was H.M.S. Zubian, which did valuable service for years afterwards.
