BOAT HARBOUR BEAUTY

SPOT

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —It was interesting to read, the paragraph in your news column on Saturday announcing the generous gift of Mr. Andrew Fletcher of a sundial and pedestal to be erected in that little beauty spot at the side of the Boat Harbour. This or a drinking fountain is just exactly what is wanted to give a finishing touch to this popular miniature park. I wonder if the two could be combined. If I am not misinformed, it was Mr. Fletcher, who, as a member of the Harbour Board, was mainly instrumental in having the then unsightly area converted to the beauty spot it now is. Many of us who pass it daily comment on its attractiveness, and on the efficient way it is maintained, as well as its popularity. On any sunny lunch hour you will find all the seats occupied by orderly, well-behaved people who are exceptional in that they never seem to leave any -litter about. If this delightful little spot is deserving of a name I think it should be known as "Fletcher Park" in recognition of the interest Mr. Fletcher has taken in it.— I am. etc..

APPRECIATIVE,
