Sir, —It appears from Press reports that it has been found necessary to appoint paid helpers to administer the patriotic funds to the best advantage. May I make a plea that all such appointments, both in the war relief and patriotic administrations, be made from ex-servicemen. As in the present war so in 1914-18, many thousands sacrificed their business careers to answer the call. When positions are offering these are the men who should receive consideration.—l am, etc.,
