W.C.0.8. V. ORIENTAL

Oriental and Wellington College Old Boys met at Anderson Park, the slippery surface of the ground appearing to have little effect on the standard of play. Facing the wind in the first half. Oriental held their own, the forwards in particular infusing plenty of life into the play. Dwyer, at half, varied his play cleverly and was well supported by Montgomery and Morgan. College Old Boys took advantage of a temporary lapse by Oriental in the second spell, and increased a 3-point lead by six points. A neat field goal by Morgan, for Oriental, reduced this lead, but Old Boys scored again and won comfortably. For Wellington College Old Boys, Wright scored two tries and Cording one, Plcott converting one and kicking a penalty goal. Morgan's field goal was Oriental's only score, the match ending: Wellington College Old Boys 14, Oriental 4. Mr. E. G. Mildenhall was the referee.
