SECOND DIVISION

MIRAMAR AND PETONE

Though the southerly made things awkward for the players, the senior second division match between Miramar and Petone on tlie Polo Ground provided a bright and fast showing, much excellent forward play being interspersed with some well-executed back movements. The lively Petone forwards gave tho home side plenty to do on defence during the first spell, but Miramar later gained the ascendancy, and deserved their win. Perhaps, tlie most striking feature, apart from the loose rushes, was the safe handling by both fullbacks. For Miramar Meade scored two tries and Arbuthnot and • Kilduff one each, Potier converting one. For Petone Haddy scored a try and Hardie kicked a penalty goal. Result: Miramar 14, Petone 6. Mr. N. Green was the referee.
