The, management committee of the j Wellington Rugby Union decided last! night to close the senior second division '

'on August 3, and to-ask the selector, Mr. A. McDonald, to pick two teams from this grade to give. players an opportunity of proving their worth for representative selection. The draw for August 3 is:—Petone v. Athletic, in town; Miramar v. Poneke, Polo Ground; Onslow v. Marist Bros. 0.8., Nairnville; Pirates, a bye. Permission was granted for a match to be played on September 14 between the Tararua Tramping Club and the Hutt Valley Tramping Club. N. E. Symonds was granted a transfer from the Karori Club to Wellington on account of the withdrawal of the only Karori team in the championship A letter was received from the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition Committee thanking the union for providing the Athletic Park grandstand to accommodate visiting schoolchildren. It was stated that 11,333 children had been catered for during the Exhibition. The Wairarapa and Horowhenua unions.wrote about lower grade representative matches.
