DUTIES RESUMED

SPEAKER OF COUNCIL

The Hon. Mark Fagan, M.L.C., Speaker of the Legislative Council, who has been ill for several months, resumed the duties of his office yesterday. , When the Council met, the Leader (the Hon. D. Wilson) said that prior to proceeding with the ordinary business he would like, on behalf of all members, to convey to the Speaker their sincere pleasure at seeing him back in the Chair. The Leader added that it was a fervent wish of them all that Mr. Fagan had made a complete and permanent recovery from his somewhat lengthy indisposition.

In returning thanks, Mr. Fagan stated that he greatly appreciated the kind remarks made by the Leader, and that the good wishes of members of the Council added considerably to his pleasure in being back with them.
