SMOKELESS POWDER
AMERICAN CONTRACT

WASHINGTON, July 17
The War Department has made a contract with Du Ponts to construct and operate 25,000,000 dollars' worth of plant to produce 200,000 pounds of smokeless powder daily, thus tripling the present national production. Three other similar contracts are planned.
