MR. WEBB'S THANKS
(To the Editor.)
Sir,-—The Hon. P. Webb's remarks about the coal miners going to work may be very soothing to them, but I wonder what the honourable gentleman would say if he happened to be me. • I have three children, one six
weeks, another a year and nine months, and the other aged four. My coal dealer has been delivering to ma about Icwt of coal every ten days, which is insufficient for me to have a fire all day. My only other means of warmth is a small radiator. If the Hon. P. Webb had to air baby clothes in a house with insufficient coal his remarks to the coal miners would be quite different from, those he used. Here we have a country teeming with coal; I have enough money to pay for all I need, and thanks to the men working the mines I have to attempt to keep a house warm, three children fed, and laundry aired, by a radiator, for three-parts of the day. If I strike, will I be publicly thanked when 1 return to work?—l am, etc., I* WILLIAMS. ,
