SOVIET COMMISSAR DISMISSED

(Received July 11, 10.10 a.m.)

MOSCOW, July 10.

M. Samokhvalov, Commissar for NonFerrous Metals, has been dismissed from his post, on the ground that he was sacrificing quality for quantity.

The offer to sell the electric fountain and plant at the Exhibition grounds to the City for £1000 was accepted by the Wellington City Council last night. The cost is to be borne equally between the Tramways Department and the Electricity Department. The fountain is to be dismantled and stored until conditions warrant its erection in a suitable position in the city.
