LIEUT.-COLONEL CONWAY, 0.8. E.

Lieut.-Colonel Conway, 0.8. E., who was Director of Military Training, Army Headquarters, Wellington, last month, served with the Ist Canterbury Battalion during the Great War. He joined the N.Z. Staff Corps, after the war. His more recent staff appointments have, included Staff Officer in Charge No. 8 Regimental District and Brigade Major 2nd N.Z. Infantry Brigade, New Plymouth, Staff Officer in Charge. No. .5 Regimental District, and Brigade Major, 2nd A N.Z. Mounted Rifles, Wellington, Commandant, Central District School of Instruction at Trentham, and Director of Mobilisation at: Army Headquarters. In sporting circles Lieut.-Colonel Conway was

well, known, among golfers. A firstclass player himself, he also took a keen interest in the administrative side of the game and was mainly responsible for the reconstruction of the New Plymouth Club's Ngamotu links for the national championships when they were held there in 1936.
