ANOTHER RECORD

HOSPITAL PATIENTS

Each year the Wellington Public Hospital caters for increasing numbers of patients, and a new record was set on Tuesday, when there were 1010 patients receiving attention. This included inmates of the infectious diseases, children's hospital and other branches, but not patients in the convalescent homes or maternity hospital. Yesterday there were 1003 patients in hospital.

Although the figures are large, there is no particular department that .has had suddenly to cope with a rush/and there is nothing in the nature of a slight epidemic. The number of soldiers receiving attention is small, and the large number of admittances is due only to the steadily increasing total of patients of all classes entering hospital.
