REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT

TIMARU, July 8.

Since the recent announcement by the Government of the maximum price of potatoes the market has receded considerably, and *a meeting of representatives of growers and merchants in North and South Canterbury today unanimously decided to send a deputation to Wellington immediately to request the Government to fix a minimum economic price with a view to stabilising the market.
