On anything he has done would not be up to -this class. Also in opening event v - J ° Though most winners' of the Wellington Steeplechase in recent :p*ars have been goodclass horses in form at. the time, the actual favourites have a poor; record in the race, and Diamond four yeajrs ago has been the only such winner since; 1921. when Coalition carried the race-record freight of 12.11 (before a maximum condition was imposed) to impressive victory. If Padishah goes to the post tomorrow he will he tlse • favourite, and there is no reason to suspect that the ground will trouble him any more fen it will the others. Clarion Call also has. the class to compel notice, despite his prefeeesice for firmer ground. Of the others B.allybril is decidedly best on form, but Small" Boy and Nightbound are a pair who might be In, the running if kept for this event. Gay Boa is one who might upset calculations off tb« minimum on a heavy track. The logical choice is PADISHAH. CLARION CALL, and ISALLYBRIT..
