TRENTHAM CAMP
INOCULATION TODAY
Large numbers of carpenters are now engaged adding to the hut accommodation at Trentham and further blocks <of these buildings are rapidly nearing completion. The sudden increase in the population of the camp caused by the recent short-notice mobilisation of the cpecialist forestry, railway, and engineering companies made it necessary to provide temporary tented accommodation for a number of men, but the men will be transferred to permanent hutments as rapidly as possible. Officers and n.c.o.s of the camp headquarters staff moved into the new mess on Monday.
Yesterday and today units have been parading in turn at the V.M.C.A. and the Church Army huts for the second anti-typhoid inoculation, and while this continues the units concerned are being given rest periods followed by light duty. Chief topic of conversation in the camp at the moment is Rugby football and the Army team's chances in its match against a Hawke's Bay • representative side at Napier tomorrow week. The team, which is almost the same as that which played in Wellington, will travel to Napier on Friday next. Proceeds of the match will go to'the patriotic funds. ■
