TRAVELLERS' DAY
MOTOR-CAR RAFFLE
. Tomorrow will Be the final day on which it will be possible to help the Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's art union in aid of the Red Cross Sick, Wounded, and Distress Fund. The association is holding a street day, and four lorries, each containing a similar motor-car to that which the lucky winner of the art union will receive, will parade the city. Meanwhile the footpaths will be traversed actively by 100 members of the association, who will sell the final tickets. There will also be an openair concert in Post Office Square between noon and 2 p.m., with community singing.
Like all the patriotic and charitable efforts of the commercial travellers, this one ensures that every Is paid by the public is handed on intact to the cause of the moment. The motor-car which will form the prize is the gift of a Wellington firm, and the Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association is footing all costs of the effort. Collectors on the footpaths and in the city generally will wear a distinctive badge. A "flying squad" will visit Masterton. The motto of the dayis "All in." The travellers will be assisted by members of the Red Cross, V.A.D.'s, and nurses. To those who have already bought a ticket in hope of the prize, the advice of the association isr "You cannot fly with one wing."
