SICK & WOUNDED FUND
"CLOSING," NOT "CLOSED"
RECEIPTS STILL COMING IN
"In an appreciation issued yesterday of the splendid response made by the people of New Zealand to the Sick, Wounded, and Distress Fund appeal I stated that the appeal is 'closed,'" said Sir James Elliott, speaking to a "Post" reporter today. "The word should have been 'closing,' and the mistake in using it was mine. I understand that the appeal will not close before the end of this week, and, of course, funds will continue to accrue after the Official closing as a result of the arrangements made during the course of the appeal." £2000 FROM BANKS. The various trading banks operating in New Zealand have made contributions aggregating £2000 towards the appeal. The amount is made up in the following manner: —Bank of New Zealand, £1000; National Bank of New Zealand, £250;. Bank of New South Wales, £250; Bank of Australasia, £200; Union Bank of Australia, £200; Commercial Bank of Australia, £100.
