POWER BOARD'S HELP
The Hutt Valley Electric Power Board has decided to lend the Government £1000 free of interest for the duration of the war and six months afterwards. When Mr; J. j. Maher moved the motion there was considerable discussion, some members being of the opinion that more could be lent, or that a sum could be given. It was pointed out that the moneys handled by the board were public moneys, and that the matter could be reconsidered at any time. During the discussion, Mr. A. Walker said that he had arranged for his fees for a year as a member of the board to.be handed over to the Red Cross Fund and the Returned Soldiers' effort.

The manager of the Chateau Tongariro reports that there has been a further very good fall of snow in the vicinity, and that guests are able to ski around the building.
