AMAZING ESCAPES

ROYAL AIR FORCE MEN

(Received May 23, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, May 22. Reports reaching R.A.F. headquarters reveal amazing escapes by British crews who have parachuted to earth. One bomber pilot, after his two companions had been wounded and taken prisoner, swam the Meuse and reached the French lines. Another fighter officer discovered when he was about to land, that his plane was on fire, and scrambled out 500 feet from the ground. . Another pilot landed with his plane actually on fire. The petrol tank exploded when he was only 50 yards away.
