STAFF APPOINTMENTS
It is announced by the Territorial Headquarters of the Salvation Army in Wellington that Lieut.-Colonel Geo. Grattan has been appointed Chief Secretary -for the Australia East Territory, with headquarters at Sydney. This appointment carries with it the rank of full colonel. Colonel Grattan has been Chief Secretary in New; Zealand for the past four years, and has won a high place in the regard of Salvationists and the public by his earnestness of purpose, sincerity, and capabilities for administration and leadership.
Lieut.-Colonel Chas. Walls has been appointed Field Secretary for Australia South, with headquarters at; Melbourne. He also is promoted to the rank of full colonel. For the past thirty years the Colonel has filled various responsible positions in New Zealand, latterly being National Young People's Secretary. During the last war he did outstanding service as a military chaplain, serving in Egypt and France, and being awarded the M.C.
Colonel Thos. Driscoll will come from Australia to be Chief Secretary in New Zealand. Colonel Driscoll has been an Army officer for 42 years, all of his service up to the present being in Australia.
Another appointment of interest to many in New • Zealand is that of Colonel John Bladin, now Chief Secretary in Sydney, to be Chief Secretary in Great Britain. Colonel Bladin served some time in this country as Young People's Secretary and in other capacities. He also served as a chaplain to the New Zealand forces during the last war, doing good service overseas.
