About twenty-five guests assembled recently at the flat of Misses Olive Clist and Jean Burke in Austin Street to celebrate the engagement of Miss Thelma Mullins to Mr.John NobleBeasley, of Mangonui, who is in camp at Papakura, and is a member of the Third Echelon. Cocktails and savouries were served to the guests, who later went on to the Majestic Cabaret to dance. Miss Mullins wore a halterneck black taffeta frock. Miss Clist was in green georgette, braided with gold sequins, and Miss Burkes frock was of gold lame. Miss Linda Hales, who assisted the hostesses, wore a smart black gown with a heart-shaped neckline.
