ANZAC DAY AND THE

EXHIBITION

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l notice that the City Council has given permission for the Exhibition to be opened at 3.30 p.m.. on Anzac Day. The Mayor stated that the parade for that day would be over by 3.30 p.m. Surely he has forgotten that the most solemn parade on that day is "The Retreat," which takes place at 4.30 p.m., and it is witnessed by many thousands of the general public. The Mayor is a returned soldier, and will know exactly what this solemn parade means. I sincerely trust that-this serious mistake will be rectified and the opening of the Exhibition will be postponed until, say, 5 p.m.—l am, etc., § ■ W.A.B.
