NUMEROUS CHANGES
KARORI SCHOOL LOSSES
"It seenis that we are having a big loss," remarked Mr. N. F. Brookie at a meeting of Karori householders last night, when noting the references in the Karori school committee's report to the number of staff and other changes taking place. The report showed that there had been a number of transfers from the teaching staff—those of Messrs. Saker and Murphy and Misses Dickson and McKenzie—and that the infant mistress (Miss Brown) .would be retiring at the end of the present term. Tribute was paid to those teachers, who had given many years of excellent service to the school.
The committee, too, had had its losses. Mr. A. V. Knapp would be going overseas with the Second -Echelon, and Mr. G. Whitham was also on military service. Mr. H. L. P. Dyett, who had been chairman for many years, had not sought re-election at the previous householders' meeting. The committee was also losing the services of Mfs. Hilston, who has so efficiently taken care of the school for almost twenty-eight years. Appreciation of their services was expressed and good wishes extended.
