LARGE AUDIENCE

BRITISH MUSIC SOCIETY

CONCERT

A large audience attended the second concert of the season of the ; Wellington branch of the British Music Society, which .was held last night in James Smith's tearooms.

The handsome room was arranged as a salon for the occasion, standard lamps with coloured shades, large jars of hydrangeas, and bowls of cotoneaster, viburnum, and euonymous berries were arranged with artistic effect against the oyster white of the walls and pillars of the room. At the conclusion of the musical programme supper was served at small tables where members and their friends forgathered in sociable groups to discuss the music.

Miss Valeric Corliss, honorary organiser, who had arranged the programme, wore a gold coin-spotted champagne net frock and coatee of golden brown velvet. At the commencement of the programme she gave a brief address on the British Music Society and also commented on the excellent progress of the society in Wellington, where there is a steady increase in membership.
