PERSONAL NOTES

On his return to Christchurch from the Akaroa celebrations on Saturday, the Prime Minister (the Hon. P. Fraser) and Mrs. Fraser paid a short visit to Mz-s. B. Barclay, Sumner. Mrs. Barclay's son is Mr. J. G. Barclay, member for Marsden, who with his wife had also visited Akaroa for the Centennial celebrations. Mr. and Mrs. Fraser returned to Wellington yesterday morning. / The Hon. Vincent Ward and Mrs. Ward, Heretaunga, who were the guests of Sir Cyril and Lady Ward, Merivale Lane, Christchurch, returned to Wellington by the steamer express this morning. Mrs. G. H. Buchanan and Miss Shirley Buchanan, Fendalton, Christchurch, are the guests of Mrs. Donald Dobson, Wesley Road. Mrs. T. H. Busck, Titirangi, who has been spending a holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. N. R. Meadows, -White's Line East, Lower Hutt, has left on her return to Auckland. Mrs. J. B. Hay, Pigeon Bay, is visiting Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. C. White-Parsons and Miss A. White-Parsons, Christchurch, are staying at the Midland Hotel. Mrs. Eric Reeves, Wellington, who has been visiting Mrs. N. W. McD. Weir, Auckland, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mrs. W. B. Price, Riccarton, is a Christchurch visitor to Wellington. Mrs. E. C. Gorton, Kelburn, has left with her small daughter for Auckland. Mrs. Gorton, whose husband is stationed at Hobsonville, has taken a house at Titirangi for the duration of the war. • Mrs. G. L. Jamieson, Wallingford, Hawke's Bay, is visiting Wellington. Mrs. M. H. Wadham and Mrs. L. E. Emery, Masterton, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. Des. Forges, Hawera. Mrs. T. Herrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Orbell, South Canterbury, who with her small son left for England some weeks ago, arrived in London on Thursday. Miss Ruth Lethbridge Mahoe, Waipawa, is expected in Wellington this afternoon and will stay for several weeks with Miss Tiora Meadows at Lower Hutt. Mrs. M. M. Williams, Nelson, is staying at the Empire Hotel. Mrs. W. N. Benson, Dunedin, is attending the Dominion conference of the National Council of Women, which opens in Christchurch today. Mrs. J. W. Ward, Wellington, is at present the guest of Mrs. F. K. Gasquoine,. Dunedin.

Miss Eva and Miss Doris Waite, Wanganui, are visiting their mother, Mrs. D. M. Waite, Karori.
