HUTT VALLEY
The first service to be held in the Hutt Valley on Anzac Day will be the Dawn Parade in Petone, in which the Hutt Valley branch of the R.S.A. will take part. Members of the branch will assemble at the corner of Jackson and Cooper Streets at 5.40 a.m., and at 5.45 a.m. will march to the memorial on. the Petone Recreation Ground, where the service will be held at 6 a.m. There wiil be an address by the president, Mr. A. E. Pattinson. Petone ministers of religion will take part and Padre H. E. K. Fry will pronounce the Benediction.
The service sponsored by the Lower Hutt Borough Council and arranged by the Lower Hutt Ministers' Fraternal will be held in the Lower Hutt grandstand at 9.30 a.m., and the address will be given by the Rev. J. Thomson Macky. Prior to this service members of various military units and I members of the Hutt Valley branch of the R.S.A.' wili assemble at the old Hutt Central School at 9 a.m., and, led by the Civic Band and the Pipe Band, will march to the Recreation Ground.

At Petone, military units and members of the Hutt Valley branch of the R.S.A. will assemble at. the. corner of Cuba and Jackson Streets at 10.35 a.m., and. march to the Petone grandstand, where a service arranged by the Petone Borough Council and conducted by the Petone.Ministers' Fraternal will be held at 11 a.m. The address will be given by the Rev. B. D. McKee.
• Mutt Valley R.S.A. members will also parade in Wellington in the,afternoon. . .
At Upper Hutt arid Eastbourne the usual Anzac;Day parades'will be .held" under the auspices of the R.S.A. ''

After use for a, good.many years as a public way the rather:: narrow lane .which runs through from Manners Street to Wakefield Street Jon the western side of the Grand Opera House, and which is part of the Opera. House property owned by J. C. Williarnson, Ltd., has been closed to wheeled traffic by a barrier of steel.-tubing, but it will still be used by pedestrians.. The. barrier can be removed to, allow - vehicles to reach the stage door of the theatre with scenery and effects.
