CHRISTCHURCH, March 15. A warning that New Zealand was in a position of danger was given thjs evening by the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) at a recruiting rally. "Some say our isolation gives us protection," said the Minister. "Are we safe? We know that in the last war mines were laid round this coast by a raider. What happened in the last war can happen in this war. -.:■ "We are in a position of danger, specially to our shipping and our own people." Some also" said, "Why can't New Zealand- keep out of the war?" Britain was the best customer for the Dominon's products. What would happen' to- the products if New Zealand took up a stand riot ■ to^ assist Britain? The people of this country had to realise that we were being helped and all that that meant.
