POWER OF PRAYER FOR PEACE
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —You were kind enough to insert my letter of February 8 last, in which I offered to send a copy of the leaflet "War Can be Stopped by Prayer" to any applying for it. I write to say that I received a satisfactory number of inquiries. It was a surprise to receive these from widely-separated parts of New Zealand and most of all for a letter from the Rev. Dr. F. W. Boreham, Melbourne, whose , fame as an ; author is world wide. In Dr. Riddle's leaflet it is clearly, shown that the war can be stopped by' prayer. But by people generally this is thought to be "too good to be true." Whilst the efforts made by the Governments at home and in the Dominions to combat this war have been colossal, it must be realised that nothing short of a mighty miracle is going to deliver us from carnage and'destruction of the most terrible dimensions that1 history has ever recorded. Already; God has wrought great j miracles favouring our nation in this war. It is very evident that the Fuhrer, like the autocrat mentioned ml Acts 12 in- the New Testament, who apprehended the Apostle, Peter, is also "intending after Easter" to do so and so. The miracle .of the dclivI e'rance wrought for the: Apostle was in direct answer to the prayers of the people of God; and He is just the same today. The Fuhrer has made known his intentions of what he is going to do after Easter, and if the people of God today will definitely call upon Him, He will most surely upset the evil designs of this enemy of God and man. < \
Last week we received a visit from a lady whose husband has just died. He had been a South African War veteran. She was in much anxiety because one son was in camp and her two remaining sons had volunteered for service. All were giving up good positions. We told this good lady that we were hoping that as a result of our united prayers throughout the world God would do the seemingly impossible and bring the war to a speedy termination. . If . our prayers prevail we hope that no further troops may be required to be sent from this country. •
We shall gladly send a copy of the leaflet "War Can be Stopped by Prayer" if ■ there is enclosed a stamped and addressed envelope posted to us to "Maranatha," Box 258, G.P.O. God is revealed-to us in His word as One jWho deiifehteth in mercy.■* Also "He does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men." The campaign that Dr. Riddle has launched is an earnest endeavour to • invoke the Divine aid in bringing the war to a speedy conclusion and to grant us a world-wire spiritual revival. —I am, etc.,
D.O.M,
