Lady Galway Commends Plunket.
In a brief speech at the Plunket Bail in the Exhibition Cabaret last night, Lady Galway commended the Plunket Society for the excellent work it was doing. In times like the present, she said, the public should be deeply aware of the national character of the Plunket work. In wartime its continuation became an imperative need for the sake of the future of the race, and the work took on a new significance. This was fully realised by the Government and the Minister of Defence, and for that reason the contestants had been permitted to use the soubriquets, Army, Navy, Air Force, and Merchant Service. Those interested in the society, and particularly those people who benefited from its services, should feel very deeply grateful to the four contestants who had raised so much money, and to all thoseg helpers who; had made the carnival such a success. Mrs. H. Jowett's announcement that £1700 had been raised as ;a result of the carnival was received with great 'enthusiasm by the guests. Mothers' Club. The annual meeting of the Wellington.
