RED CROSS GARDEN FETE

The committee responsible for the organisation of the Red Cross garden fete, to be held at the Red Cross Home, 80 Hobson Street, on Saturday, reports that final arrangements are complete \ and given fine weather the programme of events should afford a pleasurable afternoon to patrons. The Mayoress, Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, will officially open the function at 2.30 p.m. The Boys' Institute Band will be; in attendance, also the Caledonian Pipe! Band, with dancers in national cos-j tume. Stalls will be well stocked and! interesting side-shows will be conducted. The Jenkins Physical Culture Studio will give a display. Afternoon tea will be dispensed by members of the Voluntary Aid Detachment. The proceeds of the function are being devoted in furtherance of the general activities of the Wellington City Sub-centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society (Inc.), which has a long record of service in the community, and today stands ready to meet any emergency v
