VATICAN CITY, February 10
The Pope, in a message to Emperor Hirohito on the occasion of the 2600 th anniversary of the foundation of the Japanese Empire, said: "We ask God that you may cease hostilities. May the Japanese and their sovereigns attain greater glory and happy years Ithrough Divine aid."
