A very pleasant evening was spent iri the Druids' Chambers recently when the members of the Dickens Fellowship held their first meeting for the New Year, Mr. W. D. Charlton presiding. In commemoration of the birthday of Charlesy Dickens, Mr.. Charlton presented a most interesting synopsis of the life and work of the great master, comparing his success and talents with those of his contemporaries, Scott aijd Thackeray.

Miss Rosemary Page was enthusiastically applauded for her excellent character study of "Nancy" from "Oliver Twist." • Miss Bennett -, gave an amusing reading from "Martin Chuzzlewit," and Miss Cruttenden also read a paper entitled "How they would have written it," being a passage from "Scrooge" as it might have been written by Shakespeare, Browning, or Longfellow.

Mr. Val Jones sang, accompanied by Mrs. Wakelin, and the singing .of the National Anthem concluded a most enjoyable programme.
