THE CENTENNIAL

MR. SAVAGE'S MESSAQE

Following is the text of Mr. Savage's message to the High Commissioner for New Zealand on the occasion of the observance of the New Zealand Centennial in London. "Today, when in New Zealand we are fittingly celebrating at Waitangi itself the Centennial of the Treaty which has meant so much to Maori and pakeha alike, I desire you on behalf of the Government and people of New Zealand to express to the Lord Mayor of London our sincere gratitude for the signal honour conferred on this Dominion by his entertaining so large a body of New Zealanders at the Mansion House on this historic day. We are deeply touched by this further evidence of friendship for New Zealand at the heart of the British Commonwealth." ;
