"SWITZERLAND."
At the Grand Opera House
The brilliant ice skating spectacle "Switzerland" drew another crowded audience to the Opera House last evening, when the favourites of this popular and novel ballet were again enthusiastically received. Miss Megan xayior, world champion ice skater, fascinated the spectators with her scintillating exhibitions of figure and free skating. Phil Taylor thrilled w»th his daring performance on stilts and" other trick seating, and the audiencd was charmed by the elegance and grace with which this intrepid performer, in white satin court dress of the seventeenth century, danced the minuet with the sylph-like Elsie Heathcote. Other firm favourites were the MacKinnon Sisters, whose grace and beauty won them the well-merited plaudits. Eddie Marcel, the West End comedian, with his neatly-contrived patter and cunning jokes, kept minds busily occupied, as well as being the efficient compere for the entire show. In the cabaret scene, arranged to allow the skaters a rest, he provided quite an entertainment in himself, and was supported by Connie Graham, a vivacious mimic, and Hal Scott, and Tommy Russell and Ernie Marconi, who kept the fun going with their musical fooling. "Switzerland" will be presented nightly during the week.
