CONTRABAND CONTROL

(British Official Wireless.) (Received January;, 25, 12.10 p.m.) RUGBY, January 23. There are 35 neutral ships in the three British contraband control bases, |of which 25 have been there for five '. days or less. I During the week ended January 23 the contraband committee considered the cargoes of 80 ships which arrived -since January 13 and 33 outstanding cargoes from the previous week. In 52 cases the entire cargoes were released. Thirty-eight cases were dealt with under the system of, advance manifests. In 25 cases ships were released subject to formal checking of the original manifests.
