RECORDS EQUALLED
SPLENDID HURDLING
STENNER AT MASTERTON

The equalling of the present New Zealand records for the 120 ..yards-and 220 yards hurdles was the achievement of S. G. Stenner, crack Australian hurdler, at the Masterton Amateur Athletic Club's .meeting yesterday. Stenner appeared in company with P. F. Sharpley, the New Zealand champion hurdler, and a large crowd was treated to a beautiful exhibition of hurdling,/particularly by Stenner, who appeared to be in better form than Sharipley, who is in Trentham Canip.
Stenner made two attempts to lower Sharpley's record of -15sec for 120 yards but cpuld not better that time, though he equalled it in both attempts. Sharpley attempted to lower his 220 yards record of; 24 4-ssec, but he filled^ second place, while Stenner again equalled the record. Stenner won by about two yards in all three events.
.V. P. Boot, British Empire Games champion, ran in the half-mile handicap, which was won in the fast time of lmin 54sec. Boot was second.
A. T. Koefoed (Wellington) had a successful day in thp field events. He won the Curtis Cup javelin-iiirowing-event, getting the long spear out 168 ft llin. . D. L. Bade, another Wellington competitor, was second. Koefoed also won the discus throw with an effort of 118 ft 2in. P. Bacon (Wellington) won the 220' yards handicap. Miss J. Crampton (Wellington), the Wellington provincial women's sprint champion, won' the 120 yards women's handicap and was second in the 100 yards women's handicap.
