EXPLOSION OF BUOY
WORKMAN'S NARROW ESCAPE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) i INVJERCARGILL, January 17. ,' A workman had a miraculous escagc from serious injitry at Bluff' today \vhen a 10-ton whistling buoy, which was being repaired on the ferry wharf,* Exploded with, such violence that it was felt throughout the town. The buoy, which broke adrift from Fairchild Rock, Foveaux Strait, some time ago, was being electrically welded when a piece about two foot square blew out. The workman was. not injured, and fortunately no one was in the main line of the explosion. Many window's in ah oyster cannery about twenty yards away were extensively cracked by the force of the explosion, and in the factory office articles were, dislodged from shelves.
