The death has occurred of Marshal Wu Pei-Fu from blood poisoning. He underwent a dental operation last , .week. i "'. , Marshal Wu Pei-Fu was born in 1878 and educated at the Peiyang Military AcaQemy. He became,ten army commander and a faithful follower of the late President Tsao Kun, and for a number of years led* the famous 3rd Division. In 1920 he was promoted general and appointed deputy high inspector of Chihli and Shantung. In 1921 he was inspector of Hunan and . Hupeh. The next year he declined the post of Minister of War. He became a marshal in 1923. In 1927 ha was defeated by the National Revolutionary army and went into retirement in Peking. .
