ENGLISH ROMANCES

(By Air Mail—From "The Post's" London Representative.) LONDON, October 1.0. Mr. F. J. Burborough, of Wellington, was married last week to Miss Eda Williams, of Birkenhead. - The bride wore a gown of white lace over taffeta, and a matching coatee. A handembroidered veil, made by the bridegroom's mother and sent from New Zealand, was held in place by a wreath of orange blossom and lilies. A sheaf of Madonna lilies and white heather was carried. Both bride and bridegroom are keen workers in the Scout movement. They expect to leave for New Zealand shortly. The engagement is announced between Pilot-Officer Francis Gerald Bowling, second son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bowling, of Wellington, and Muriel Gwendoline Nott, only child of Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Nott, of Addiscombe. .....-.■

Mr..,C. J. Banwell (Christchurch) came to England to pursue a three years' course of radio research at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, and had already enrolled as a research student at Emmanuel College," states "The Post's" London correspondent. On reaching Cambridge, however, he found that many of the staff, and most of the radio research students at the Cavendish Laboratory, had been, or were about to be, absorbed into Government work, leaving the place rather denuded of workers in his particular branch. Mr. Banwell will, therefore, probably abandon the course for the present, though he will remain in England.
