DOUBLE ADDINGTON MARKET.

Entries at the double market in Addington today were exceptionally heavy, comprising more than 7000 head of sheep,.76o head of cattle; and about 1000 pigs. Nevertheless, the sale was brisk, with beef values being maintained at the recent good-level, and wethers being up by 2s a head. For store sheep, a slacker.sale resulted, ewes and lambs, being ls a head cheaper, ranging, from 6s to 12s 7d, ail counted: , Forward wethers sold fairly well. In the. spring lambs section there was much poor quality. Six hundred were-penned, but this was far too many for the trade, and prices eased from the 12d a lb. of last week down to 8d to lOd. Numerous trucklots of' fat sheep came from south of Rangitatai Woolly sheep were little changed in value, but, shorn wethers improved by 2s a head and shorn ewes by ls. All the sheep, forward were wanted. Best wethers made from 40s to 44s for shorn Southland sheep, good 35s to ,38s, and light to 21s. Best shorn ewes sold-, to'3ss'lOd, good 29s to 335, medium 25s to 28s, and light down to 18s. The fait cattle market was a shade easier, except for .< the primest beef, which just about maintained last week's rates. Good steers made from £19 to £22. with a few tops to £26 17s 6d; medium, £15 to £18; and light down to £10. Good heifers brought from £12 to £15, and cows to about 20s less. The entry of fat.pigs was one of the largest on record. A slightly easier sale resulted for pork, but baconers maintained recent values. The average price a lb for porkers was 74d to BJd, and for baconers. 614 to Bd.
