ROAD WALKING
On Saturday the Wellington Combined Bond Walking (Hub coniined its activities to track trials, at Hataltal Park in preparation for the official opening of the track season. Bratton and Aston displayed good form, and Hay, a recruit, surprised all by his long-striding, free action. Disappointment was felt that McCarthy is suffering from ankle trouble, but it is hoped that after, medical, attention, he will be fit to 'compete, for otherwise ho Is in tine form for so early in the season. Next Saturday a road race will be held from Island Bay.' The club is at present endeavouring to establish an annual road race of about eight miles, in addition to the Hutt Road walk. A course suggested tentatively is from Lyall Bay to Point Halsweil and around the bays, back through Seatoun tunnel to Lyall Bay.
