STRIKE ENDED

AMERICAN SEAMEN

CARGO BUT FEW PASSENGERS

(Received September 23. 10 a.m.) ■■ NEW YORK, September 22. The seamen's strike, after lasting a week, has been settled on the basis of the .Maritime Commission's offer. Ships are departing with full cargoes, but with few passengers.

A Washington message published on Thursday stated: The Maritime Commission has announced a 25 per cent, increase in sailors' i-ay during the emergency, a clothing bonus of 150 dollars if their clothing is damaged, and base pay, plus 25 per cent, in the event of a sailor being interned. A proposal that there should be an insurance policy of 25,000 dollars on each individual is not possible under the law.
